Maths Timetable Challenge

For maths we had a timetable challenge.

We had to figure out where we are going and how we are going to get there. The place i chose was the leaning tower of pisa in italy. I took Mum, Dad, Riley (Avrils sister), Kyra, Wyatt, Noah, Avril and Me. I found out that all together for the flighs it will cost $17,736. When we get to Italy the hotel will cost $2,680 for 2 rooms. At approximately 11:00am we will arrive at the tower of pisa by bus. I calculated my prices and all together it will cost $20,696.

The Meaning of Teamwork

The meaning of teamwork is working together to complete a task and to help each other.

Teamwork in our class is helping others with work and other tasks.

We use teamwork in our class every day by partner working, in partner work we use teamwork for creating and designing.

Our school uses teamwork in fitness and P.I.T.W, we use teamwork for games like hoops and how we have to make partners or groups in small hoops and we have to huddle.

This is my opinion of the meaning of teamwork.

What Students Really Need to Hear

This morning Mrs.R-P shared an article with the class that a high school teacher wrote, it is about what teachers really feel.

It really made me think about how our class acts and what Mrs.R-P feels.
It is very saddening that this is what teachers really feel over what they hide.
This article made me think thoroughly about my actions and other students actions and how I can improve to help stop this or at least calm it down.
This is an article that every student should hear from their teacher, it may help it to stop or calm down.
This article is really saddening and I believe that if this keeps going it will get worse.
I hope that I can help stop this it is not good and I will help the class out even more after watching that video.
I will help students to not quit and to not give up.

Science about mixtures with ms.peckover

In this science lesson we were mixing six different mixtures of our choice with water.

I was watching what happens when you mix these liquids and their reactions. My groups choice of liquids were oil, shampoo, orange juice, milk, brown vinigar, detergent.

i learnt that lot of these liquids will not change after ten minutes and three stirs of a spoon.

Remembrance day poem 11-11-14

lest we forget
more we remember
the blood runs down
as they dismember

on the 11th of november
the soldiers lay
down in the fields
as we pray

minute of silence
means so much
as we hold a wreath
we feel the soft touch

the white poppies turn red
as they dismember
lest we forget
the more we remember

Raising awareness for the Heart Foundation

This term we are doing an action project called ISAP. My group is doing a study on the Heart Foundation. My group is making a Weebly website for information, we are also creating a Facebook page for stories and facts on the Heart Foundation. Help support this cause by visiting the Heart Foundation website and spread the word to raise more awareness to the world.

Please visit our website to help support the heart foundation.

Science of Mixtures 23-10-14

For science on the 23rd of october we did liquid separation. We learnt about mixtures and solutions.
We had three mixtures/solutions to try separate. In the first one we had a mixture of blue food coloured water, oil, condensed milk, honey, glucose syrup, vegetable oil and vinegar. We tried to find ways of separating the liquids and the best was was to EXTRACT the liquids with a syringe.

image

The next mixture/solution was cordial and oil. We tried to separate them by decanting but we still got to much cordial in the oil. Next we extracted the oil by using the syringe and it worked.

image

The last mixture/solution was dirt and water, mr.Cronin told us how to do this one. First we had to get a stocking foot and drained the water from the dirt, then we had to use a paper filter to drain the rest. even though it didn’t drain completely it made a big improvement.

During this lesson I learnt that if you want to EXTRACT the best method is to use a syringe.

What would you say is the best method to use for FILTERING mixtures.

Girls Softball team

This term some girls from our school are engaging in a softball knockout tournament. I am one of the girls. We have been training in P.E and we also have private softball sessions with our P.E. teachers. Our first game will be sometime next week. We be playing against a local school.

I chose to participate in this activity because I want to try new sports and I am having a lot of fun when we play softball in P.E.

What is your favourite sport? Leave a comment telling me your answer.

Science 16-10-14

In our unit we were learning about mixtures and today we had 20 minutes to sort out a container of six items into six little containers. Our items were little pompoms, paper clips, rice, glitter, shells and multi couloured beads.

This photo shows Avril’s and my finished progress. As you can see Avril and I did not finish ours completely.

During this task I have learnt that when somethings look/sound easy it may not be, this task has challenged me into wanting to learn more about mixtures.

Leave a comment below telling me what’s the most weirdest liquids you’ve ever mixed.
